Advanced Diploma of Accounting

This qualification is from the Financial Services Training Package. It is designed to reflect the role of individuals working in accounting and seeking professional identification. Students will develop skills in order to fulfil such work requirements as: developing and writing reports to specifications; liaising with government collection agencies and working with internal staff to achieve team goals; aligning requirements of the system with the needs of users; and demonstrating flexibility to meet changing environments.

Like the Diploma, the Advanced Diploma prepares candidates for self-directed application of skills and knowledge based on fundamental principles and/or complex techniques. It recognises capacity for initiative and judgment across a broad range of technical and/or management functions. The Advanced Diploma is however, a more specialised qualification than the Diploma and signifies skill and knowledge of a greater complexity and a higher level of personal accountability. It is offered in both the VET and Higher Education sectors, by TAFE intitutes, universities and private providers.
Vocational Education & Training (VET) courses are offered by TAFE institutions, private providers and some universities. They are accredited by the VET authority in each state or territory. Awards under the new Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) include Certificate I - IV; Diploma and Advanced Diploma (also offered in Higher Education); and Vocational Graduate Certificate and Vocational Graduate Diploma.
The Innovation and Business Industry Skills Council includes, amongst others, training for the Finance Sector. The Training Package, Financial Services, covers accounting, banking, insurance, financial planning.
A Statement is awarded on the completion of many short non-award courses or single units or subjects from other qualifications. Statement courses may be required for entry to other courses.
Accounting, administration, banking, business, distribution & storage, economics, evaluation, finance, government administration, home economics, import & export, industrial relations, management (not agricultural or rural), marketing, personnel management, real estate, sales, secretarial studies, small business, sports administration.
Courses included are Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Associate Degree. These courses develop skills or knowledge in a specific area usually associated with employment in a particular job supporting other professional staff. Courses are offered by both higher education institutions and Vocational Education and Training (VET) providers.
