The Academic English program caters for students from intermediate to advanced levels. It aims to prepare students for university study at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It prepares students for academic tasks, text types and skills that they need to be successful at university in Australia.

Statements are awarded on completion of accredited training programs, individual units of competency, as well as preparatory education (including Foundation and English Langauge Intensive Course for Overseas Students - ELICOS) courses.
Preparatory courses, offered by universities, TAFE institutes and private providers, which include ELICOS (English language intensive courses for overseas students); bridging/enabling courses in a specific subject area to prepare for tertiary studies; and foundation programs preparing for university entrance. Other non-VET government-accredited or industry-recognised training such as Occupational Health & Safety, Licences and road transport authority courses are also included.
Entry to these courses do not require completion of any specific level of schooling. Other entry requirements such as relevant experience may apply.
Aboriginal Studies, anthropology, archaeology, archive studies, communication, ethnic studies, film & television, general studies, geography, general education programs, government, history, journalism, languages, library studies, literary studies, philosophy, politics, pre-employment studies, psychology, public relations, sociology, theology, work education, women's studies.
Courses include Certifcate I and some non-award courses. They provide instruction in basic skills at a pre-vocational or pre-employment level, below that required by Year 10, or educational preparation such as literacy and numeracy, adult secondary education, foundation programs for university preparation and intensive English language courses for overseas students.
